GIS in Security, Defence and Intelligence Training

Home GIS Courses GIS in Security, Defence and Intelligence Training

GIS has evolved as a powerful analytical tool in the last few decades. Due to the introduction of open-source GIS software, this technology is now easily available to any law enforcing agency in the world. GIS provides the means to change the spatial and time data of the security surveillance into geographic information, under GIS map elements. Some of the applications include crime mapping, Cross boarder terrorism, Artificial Intelligence, Realtime data, Safe city concepts, Trend analysis, Geo-visualization, Battlefield Management and Drone Mapping. Geographical Information System (GIS) is widely used as a valuable tool for management, analysis and presentation of various and great volumes of data, as well as different local planning activities.

About this Course

In this course we will learn how GIS can be used in crime mapping, cross border terrorism, artificial intelligence ,safe city concepts, trend analysis, geo-visualization techniques, battlefield management among others. A GIS helps people visualize and create information that can be used to make decisions and solve problems. Get an introduction to the basic components of a GIS. Learn fundamental concepts that underlie the use of a GIS with hands-on experience with maps and geographic data.
This course uses QGIS 3, ArcGIS, Google Earth Pro and QField.

What you will learn

  • Create a GIS map and spatial crime mapping & analysis.
  • Identifying crime hotspots and analysis, spatial interpolation
  • Evaluate data for use in a GIS mapping project.
  • Visually analyze feature relationships and patterns on a GIS map.
  • Share GIS maps and analysis results.
