Introduction

The course “Protection in Humanitarian Action” aims to provide participants with a comprehensive understanding of the principles, frameworks, and practical approaches to protecting vulnerable populations in humanitarian crises. Participants will learn about human rights, gender-based violence, child protection, and legal frameworks, as well as strategies and best practices for ensuring the safety, dignity, and rights of affected populations.

Learning Objectives

By the end of the course, participants will be able to:
1. Understand the importance of protection in humanitarian action and the key principles and frameworks guiding protection work.
2. Identify and assess protection risks and vulnerabilities of affected populations in humanitarian crises.
3. Apply strategies and best practices to prevent and respond to gender-based violence in humanitarian contexts.
4. Implement child protection measures and interventions to address the specific needs and rights of children in emergencies.
5. Advocate for and promote the integration of protection principles and practices across humanitarian sectors.
6. Understand the legal frameworks and international humanitarian law related to protection.
7. Coordinate and collaborate with relevant stakeholders to ensure effective protection responses.

Module 3: Child Protection in Emergencies

Module 4: Legal Frameworks and International Humanitarian Law
